Artist Story Hello, I'm Alicia Hauff
I am a mixed media artist living in Fargo, North Dakota. I have loved creating and experiencing art since I was very young. I remember my first blue ribbon from the State Fair for a kindergarten finger painting of flowers. Family and friends have requested art works all my life or I’ve gifted them in love.
My love of science, art, and humanity began in nursing. I had a successful career as a nurse practitioner for several years. In 2021 the time came for me to say yes to the life of professional art, my lifelong dream.
I do not question the journey here; I live in gratitude for it daily.
My approach to creating is emotive and exploratory in process. I describe my work as fresh, organic, expansive, and fluid. I allow my intuitive artist brain to drive, the needle sliding between a little more or less representational. Inspiration comes from experimentation, learning something new, and daily life. I enjoy the challenge of tailoring a piece for someone. However, freewheeling in the studio or sketchbook can generate new ideas. I love to see where my brushes, materials, and colors take me. Media include a variety of paints, papers, and occasional textiles. My value of community, adventure, curiosity and humor drive my creative life.
Art has been a constant current in my life. I am an explorer and adventurer, a healer and a nurturer. My love of exploration, color and textures intersect to form my artistic expression. I hope to convey what I value: grounding, openness, curiosity and making space. However, I also hope to challenge, test, and evolve. What comes through in my work often surprises even me. I look forward to sharing what comes through.
I would love to Hear from you!
