Holding on to Joy
Autumn has such a beautiful way of inviting us to celebrate and reflect on everything that's happened this year. Of gathering fruit, collecting the seeds for next year, and taking stock of what's grown--all literally and otherwise. I continue to be reminded that our seasons and cycles mirror Hers.
This year celebrated the co-evolutionary dance between pollinators and plants that continues to bring so much color, texture, and life to us. Those relationships continue to bear fruit in many ways. Their work is done for this season--what we plant and prepare now is life for them in the spring. I'm reminded that we do harvest what we sow, and what we sow out in the world will bear fruit.
As I sip my hot morning coffee from beans pollinated across the world by a tiny biting midge fly, I hold on to gratitude for so many gifts. I hope this work invites you to look a little closer, linger a little longer, and notice the details that together reveal how gifted we are--and belong to each other.
This is the time of year I look at all that's come to fruition, cultivated with care, and bring a million tiny moments in the studio together for you. It's a beautiful time to celebrate. Please let me know if I can lend a discerning eye or curate something for you or loved ones. Enjoy the season, and I hope you hold on to joy.
Original Paintings
For art collectors & enthusiasts
Mini originals are one of my favorite seasonal offerings because they're versatile, lend themselves to creating a gallery wall or shelf, and are a wonderful way to start or add to a collection.
Mini's are available in 10x10, 11x14, and 12x12, framed in hard maple. Each year, I create a handful, so these are limited.
If you're looking for something larger, shop all available original work below, and please don't hesitate to ask questions.
*An important note: several pieces are currently displayed at West Acres Mall in Fargo for the "Curious Ecology" exhibition and marked as such. Delivery available after 12/8. I encourage you to view the exhibition!
Fine Art Prints
For the art collectors & enthusiasts
These museum-quality canvas and paper prints are from my open-edition print series. For each original series, I choose a few of my favorites to add to this collection. Available made-to-order rolled, stretched, or stretched and float framed like an original.
New this year: archival prints on Hahnemuhle etching paper. Softly textured and beautiful, these are available framed or flat/unframed.
Head to the "ready to ship" section for a selection of small prints ideal for gifting.
Cutoff date for made-to-order and backordered items is Dec. 7th.
Ornaments
An annual way of remembering
Whether hung on a tree or a gallery wall somewhere cozy, these shadow-framed pieces are small but impactful. This year I have a variety of former and new: paper prints from the Bee Neighborly series featuring Golden Alexander and pollinators and a handful of ink sketches made with local land elements. I also have just a few ecoprinted and collaged prairie pieces left. Each come with a storage box.
Wild Ink Sets
For color lovers & nurturing creativity
I continue to harp that these are unlike any other art medium because they are organic and alive. They bring an element of surprise, with change in color and texture as they interact with air, with each other, and time. As I forage outside and in my garage or kitchen, the colors to be created emerge.
Burr Marigold is a new one this year, foraged along stream banks in lakes country, as is the dark Hibiscus flower. My mother-in-law noticed the coloration on her hands after trimming them, and happily brought them over. We also neglected to trim down our dogwoods, which grew to a size that apparently allowed them to grow clusters of dark berries.
This year's sets feature one set of 4, more classic and primary in color, and two sets of 3: Curios and Secondaries.
I am starting to teach making and painting with ink. Consider a gift card for anyone who might love learning this practice!
Wild Ink Sketch
For the naturalist and more adventurous collector.
A mark of place and time, these sketches are created with ink made from regionally foraged and grown-from-seed plants with care. Each sketch is a unique connection to specific plants, minerals, and more, based on seasonal variables.
Great for adding an organic element to a gallery wall or shelf. Three large sketches are also now available.
Art Stationery
Handwritten is a love language
In this digital age, there’s still something special about a handwritten note. A thank you, a love note, or words of encouragement–these cards will help deliver your words with the art of the season.
Each set is still printed on luxe recycled Mohawk loop paper, joined by recycled brown paper envelopes. The name of each bird, plant, and pollinator are written on the back of each card.
The new pollinator stationery has me happy dancing.
Happy writing!
Easel Art Calendar
Marking moments in time
Enjoy a new work of art every month and keep the small art prints at the end of the year. The 2027 calendar features the pollinators and plants from this whole year, another way to share the work and bring it all home.
Easels are handmade by Matthew, my craftsman husband, and wood stamped on the back. A new little feature: the wood peg stand is now a metal one, more durable and less prone to cracking with time.
These are one of my most popular items every year. Are refills available? Of course they are.
Cheers to 2027!
Every bit of support fills my cup. I hope to help you hold on to joy.
Thank you for supporting handmade creative work!
