"Summer on the Prairie" series is LIVE!
The journey continues...
My ethnobotanical journey across the prairie grasslands continues this summer. During our long, dreary winter, I was dreaming of a new direction for my creative practice and deepening my connection with the land here. I envisioned not just painting 'en plein air,' but truly developing relationships with plants, birds, soils, and rocks. I have spent time studying, walking gently alongside, and talking (yes, talking) to our plant kin. The land is my guide for where and whom to draw. I pass my thanks with a drink of water.
This series encompasses the literal buzzing busyness and warmth of summer, accompanied by pollinators who work in partnership with the wildflowers. Every one has a story, and I invite you to get to know them as kin.
The land will speak if you listen, and there is much to listen to.
Wild Ink Sets
Wild ink sets are LIVE!
After a year of studying, tinkering, tending, and creating with wild, place-and-time based color, I am ready to share this labor of heart with you. Playing with these inks a conversation, a connection to the land and the specific plants that provided their pigment.
Ecoprinting Workshop
I'm available for hire!
A long time in the making, it's been a goal of mine to connect folks to the magic of ecoprinting. This workshop is for groups of 8 to 15 who want to get together to learn something new while connecting with each other--and earthen materials.
And this workshop is brought to the group--you tell me where you'd like me to host, and we discuss logistics. Groups must be in the greater Fargo-Moorhead area.
"Spring on the Prairie" series still has some available paintings!
"When I am in their presence, their beauty asks me for reciprocity...to make something beautiful in response."
-Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer, "Braiding Sweetgrass"
This series has been a journey across the Northern Prairie and beyond. A journey into the history, science, and Indigenous wisdom of the prairie grasslands and its diverse ecosystem.
Reciprocity exists all around us in nature; we are meant to reciprocate with the land in relationship.
I hope you get to know them with me and celebrate this place we call home on the Great Plains.
I'm Alicia.
I am a mixed media fine artist living in Fargo, North Dakota. Art has long been a primary way I process and move through the world. My work is grounded in gratitude and informed by science, natural history, and my own connection with the land.

Testimonials
After seeing Alicia’s work on social media, I knew I HAD to have a piece for my home office. The mini collage is the perfect addition to this room, and I can hardly wait to see how the ornament will look on my Christmas tree! Shipping was quick, the piece was easy to hang, and the frame is solid and so beautiful. It is clear that Alicia has put her heart and soul into using the voice of her art to highlight all sorts of beauty around her, I can’t wait for my next purchase!
